3. REPTILES

Those are the characteristics used to define the reptile class:

1. They are mainly carnivorous, but they are some omnivorous species too. We can distinguish what they eat according to their shape and volume. Little reptiles are usually insectivorous (Chameleon). Long reptiles such as anacondas or crocodiles may eat big animals, such as a cow.
2. They are oviparous, it means that they lay eggs, and those legs must not be incubated for a period of time.
3. Offspring are not feed by their parents; they can be independent when they are born.
4. They are cold blooded and breathe through lungs.
5. Reptiles are covered by scales; some of them are venomous (komodo dragon).
6. They usually are usually terrestrial, but some of them can be aquatic, such as sea turtles. Some other species spend much time on the sea (such as crocodiles).
7. Scientist recognizes a total of 7,712 species of reptiles. Dinosaurs were reptiles.
